About Me

In the summer of 2023 I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams and a great challenge, when I sailed my Compromis 888, Pasión, from the Netherlands to Southern Spain. That empowered and inspired me to attain another dream that I had secretly cherished for even longer – to be a writer.

Besides my book ‘In the right depth’, I have written numerous articles for the British Sailing Today Magazine and for the Belgian magazine VAREN. I have also wrtitten a blog for Zeilhelden, a Dutch on-line platform.

I am very curious by nature, and I love asking questions and interviewing people.

It is my mission to inspire and empower my audience, to make them laugh, and to open their minds to their own dreams and aspirations. That’s why my favourite topics are adventure stories, sailing and body and mind.

This is backed up by my BA in Psychology, together with over ten years of work as a personal fitness trainer, giving Yoga, Pilates and meditation classes as well as massages. I am a strong motivator and I like getting the best out of myself and others. For the last seven years I have worked in marketing and sales. Altogether this provides me with a solid background and a wide range of skills that I use for writing and public speaking.

I am a language-freak and in my free time, I teach online Dutch and Spanish lessons, which is good fun and always teaches me something new. I write in Dutch, my mother tongue, and in English, but I also speak fluent Spanish, German, and a bit of French. I read every day and I have no TV. My favourite board game is Scrabble.
